Harrison Foster Phillips was born on January 25, 1996, in Omaha, Nebraska. He plays as a nose tackle in the NFL and has built a solid career on the defensive line.

Phillips went to Millard West High School in Omaha, Nebraska, where he stood out in football. He was named Nebraska’s Gatorade Football Player of the Year for 2013 to 2014. In his high school career he recorded more than 175 tackles, 35 sacks, and 75 tackles for loss. He later committed to Stanford University and played there from 2014 to 2017.

In 2015 Phillips tore his ACL and played only one game as a sophomore, which led to a redshirt season. He came back strong in 2017, leading all linemen in the Football Bowl Subdivision with 103 tackles. That year he earned First team All Pac 12 and Pac 12 All Academic First team honors.

He finished his degree in December 2017 with a double major in Sociology and Science, Technology, and Society, plus a minor in Education. After graduating he gave up his final year of eligibility and entered the 2018 NFL Draft. At the NFL Scouting Combine he showed his strength with 42 bench press reps, the most of any player.

Professional Career

Phillips entered the NFL when the Buffalo Bills picked him in the third round of the 2018 Draft at 96th overall. He signed a four year deal worth $3.34 million with a signing bonus of $775,040. In his second season he got his first career sack against the New York Giants, but a torn ACL in Week 3 cut his 2019 season short.

Harrison Phillips left the Bills for the Vikings in 2022. He signed a three-year deal worth $19.5 million. Phillips started every game in 2022. He made 59 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He set new career records with 92 tackles and three sacks in 2023.
